Abstract
AbstractAcute care surgery [ACS] is a natural evolution of trauma as a specialty. Globally, there have been positive results seen. In Singapore, ACS is a new specialty that is trying to establish itself. Early results appear promising—reduced length of stay, faster times to operation. Although ACS has had a positive impact on workflow, it’s sustainability as a specialty faces many challenges ahead. This paper describes how ACS is run in Singapore General Hospital and the challenges it must overcome to be sustainable service.
