These data concern 45 patients with Wilson’s disease who underwent liver transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh. They confirm results from Schilsky et al. [2], showing survival of approximately 80%, and provide further support for the same recommendations for patient selection for liver transplant with Wilson’s disease, which include fulminant hepatic failure and end-stage liver disease not responsive to medical therapy. In this series, all patients were transplanted for their liver disease. As with the report by Schilsky et al. [2], improvement of the neurologic symptoms in some patients occurred after transplant.
