1. A molecular solid is comprised of low molecular weight molecules or ions that do not possess extended covalent bonding in the solid state. However, shorter than van der Waal separations may be present in the solid. Dissolution into conventional aqueous or organic solvents leads to solvation of the individual ions or molecules that were used to prepare the molecular solid.2.
