Abstract
AbstractThe ORA system is based on intraoperative aberrometry, a technique developed to calculate the IOL power of the aphakic eye during cataract surgery. A Talbot-Moiré aberrometer, whose details are explained in this chapter, is contained in an optical head mounted to the surgical microscope. After each surgery, the preoperative and surgical data are uploaded to the server and saved in the AnalyzOR database, which is used for optimization of lens constants and for development of improved IOL power calculations and optimization methods. The method used to calculate the power of spherical and toric IOLs and the clinical use in the operating room are described in detail. The results of clinical studies in virgin and in post-refractive surgery eyes are reported.
