Abstract

AbstractThis chapter contains the book’s main topic, ideas, and structure. It outlines the importance of the various interpretations and applications of the concept of vulnerability in contemporary bioethics. It also shows why there has been no agreement upon a definition of vulnerability in the literature to date, explaining that there remains disagreement about the exact scope of vulnerability, its ascription-conditions, and its moral implications.
