They pointed out I had made some errors in a detailed calculation that affected the results. I do not think they were amused when they found out I had designed and performed this experiment as an unfunded undergraduate student. All of the equipment I used I managed to find in MIT surplus storerooms except for a modest out-of-pocket expenditure of $3.00 at a local electronic supply store. It is unfortunate for current MIT students that neither storerooms with surplus equipment nor local electronics parts stores are still in existence.
