Abstract
Background: Frailty is a common condition in older persons and has been described as a physiologic state of increased vulnerability to stressors that results from decreased physiologic reserves, and even dysregulation, of multiple physiologic systems. Frailty is considered as a state of high vulnerability for adverse health outcomes, such as disability, falls, hospitalization, and mortality.
Objective: To know whether frailty has correlation with activity daily life (ADL) in elderly man in Pemecutan Village, Denpasar
Methods: This was a cross sectional analitic study. Frailty was evaluated using Fried criteria, and ADL measured by Barthel index. Correlation between frailty and ADL analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis.
Result: The sample size of this study was 62 male subjects., mean age was 69,26±7,11 years old. Frailty syndrome occurs in 50% (n=32) and 85,5% subyek was independent in performance state of ADL. No correlation between frailty and ADL in current data.
Conclusion: there are no correlation between frailty and ADL in current time. It shows that frailty it is not synonymous with disability, and this study need to be continued to observe the subject to compare the incidence of ADL disturbance between frailty and nonfrailty in the future.
