Abstract
The most common mucoginigival problems includes inadequate width of attached gingiva, abnormal frenal attachment, gingival recession, and decreased vestibular depth, pockets extending upto mucogingival junction, gingival excess , inconsistent gingival margin, excessive gingival display and abnormal colour of gingival. Many periodontal plastic surgeries has been employed in the treatment of these problems. But all the procedures are technique sensitive and comes with their own disadvantage.
Hence, the case report represents an innovative technique of using 980 nm diode laser instead of convention scalpel to increase the width of attached gingiva and deepening of shallow vestibule with periosteum fenestration. Post operative pain and discomfort was minimal and complete healing of tissues at the end of 3 weeks was reported.
