Abstract

The problem of bitter and obnoxious taste of drug in pediatric and geriatric formulations is a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry in the present scenario. Taste is an important factor in the development of dosage form and it is that parameter of product development which has been curiously studied and developed by the researcher for its importance. Taste masking technologies offer a great scope for invention and patents. Taste masking ensure better patient compliance for bitter or objectionable taste of drugs formulations as this desirable aspect will provides commercial gains to pharmaceutical industries due to higher market demand of products, patent protection to novel taste masked formulations and also for exclusive marketing rights.
