Abstract

IN BRIEF Psychiatric disorders can be a risk factor for, as well as a complication of, diabetes. Antipsychotic medications, widely used to treat a variety of psychiatric conditions, are also associated with diabetes. This article explores the complex relationship among psychiatric disorders, antipsychotic medications, and risk factors for metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
