Abstract
Seven, one-cu-ft (0.028-m3) pressure vessels were burst with argon gas pressures of 15,000, 30,000, and 50,000 psi (103, 206, and 345 MPa). Curves were plotted depicting TNT equivalents and resulting overpressures. Characteristics of released energies are illustrated from a vessel at 15,000 psi (103 MPa) purposely ruptured within a simulated concrete cell housing. Energies of other media under high pressure are discussed.
