Abstract

Universal low cost computer modeling technique for gear engineering is introduced. Modeling of shape formation and gear elements meshing is based on nowadays numerical methods invariant to gear type and method of its flank formation in combination with standard comprehensible packages of 3D modeling. The developed universal program blocks can be easily assembled to various options to solve different gear engineering problems. The application of the universal blocks can reduce the cost and simplify the development of complex gear related software packages. Detailed description of the technique, description of the problems and detailed step-by-step instruction for the numerical solution are introduced. Practical examples of the developed software application illustrate the possibilities of time and cost reduction for design, manufacture and meshing simulation for helical, spiral bevel, hypoid, worm, globoid and other gear drives.
