Implementation of Decomposition Analysis in Optimal Design

Abstract

Abstract Decomposition analysis studies how one may explore systematically the decomposition of a given optimal design problem to a variety of decomposed formats that can be then treated by a specific decomposition method. This article presents the implementation of a decomposition analysis methodology introduced previously. The discussion focuses on the linking properties that can determine candidate partitions of the original problems. Suggestions are offered about how to define acceptable partitions. Examples illustrate the computational implementation of the methodology.
