Abstract
Summary This paper describes the results of the first series of experiments carried out to study the effect of pore-water pressure on the ultimate strength of concrete subject to triaxial stresses. These tests have demonstrated that saturated concrete behaves like a material which does not possess the property of internal friction, when tested triaxially under conditions of no change of water content (undrained test).
