Abstract

Part 1 of this article described the early history of prestressed concrete construction and pilot bridges in Germany. Part 1 also covered the first two nuclei of prestressed structures of the post-war period: the engineers of Wayss & Freytag and the eminent German engineer and inventor Ulrich Finsterwalder. Part 2 completes the main period of orientation and competition in prestressing development up to 1965. The four nuclei described in this paper indicate the development of today's prestressed bridge building.
