Briefing: Growth of wind power in Sweden – a look at the drivers

Abstract

Sweden's wind resources, low population density and availability of balancing sources of energy provide great growth potential for further advancement of the wind sector. The growth and profitability of Swedish wind power drives an increasingly active market, attracting energy producers, developers, utilities and financial stakeholders, which as a result leads to an increase of job opportunities within Sweden and the wider Nordic region. This paper explores the reasons for this surge in potential, looking at electricity prices, turbine prices and the investment market before concluding by taking a look at the job opportunities being created.
