Computer Modeling in Global and International Relations: The State of the Art

Abstract

Substantial progress has been made in developing computer models which facilitate the study of global problems and international relations. A review of the FUGI, GLOBUS, Soviet, and FORECASTS global models reveals how much more complex these models are than earlier ones and how much more political the problems they address have become. In international relations, the EARTH, PWORLD, and Historical Case Studies models show that computer modeling continues to advance in that field. However, in both areas much more work is needed if the potential of computer modeling is to be realized.
