Abstract
Educational administration has been subject to considerable criticism recently and there has been a resultant rush to identify ways to improve the field and preparation programs. How different are the problems and projected remedies in the 1990s from the issues in the 1950s? Using programs and studies (n = 8) spanning approximately 1950-1990 as a basis for analysis and comparison, it seems that the new wave of ideas (1980-1990) is substantially the same as the earlier ideas. Will the 1950s models be the vision for the 21st century, or must those who prepare educational administrators seek new models? Change in educational administration preparation models seems to be an epic task.
