Abstract
Intensivists frequently encounter coagulation abnormalities in critically ill patients. One of the more common etiologies is from massive blood loss. Current management strategies include higher transfusion ratios and new drugs that either increase clotting or decrease fibrinolysis. This article will review the pathophysiology and treatment options for the patient with a coagulopathy from massive transfusions.
