Abstract
This paper describes the uses of factorial survey research methods. These were originally developed to measure social judgements, but have been developed to measure a large and diverse range of judgements. The method combines Feature of Both surveys and experimental methods and as such is a cost-effective way of sampling large numbers of subjects in a design which allows for manipulation and control of variables. The method is still being refined and issues such as sampling, development of vignettes, data management and data analysis are critically evaluated.
