Abstract
Many problems areas in the field of textile information are outlined. Input is considered, with emphasis on coordination with other information systems. The needs of users are considered and the nature of indexing to meet these needs. The role of a textile thesaurus in indexing and searching is described. Reference searching and the use of bibliographic data are reviewed. Directions for further study are suggested.
