Abstract
Microcellular urethane elastomers (MUE) for shoe soling are usually based on polyester or polyether polyols. The flex resistance at ambient and low temperatures of polyether types is better than that of the polyester types, whereas tensile strength, elongation at break and abrasion values are inferior to the ester types. It was interesting to synthesize MUE containing both polyester and polyether soft segments, and to investigate how the most important properties of poly(ester-ether) MUE compare to MUE based on polyesters and polyethers alone. No mechanical properties are significantly better than those properties of polyether MUE and comparable to polyester MUE.
