Influence of Moisture On the Impact Behavior of Hybrid Glass/Graphite/Epoxy Composites

Abstract

Preceding studies have demonstrated a lack of tolerance for impact by graphite/epoxy composite materials. This is in marked contrast to the extremely good impact resistance offered by glass fiber reinforced plastics. The hybrid, or combination of two fibers, composites offers the means of alleviating some of the graphite/epoxy deficiencies while retain ing their higher stiffnesses and strengths.
