Characteristics of Women Who Love Too Much

Abstract

The addiction to unhealthy relationships has been linked to addiction to drugs or alcohol and to codependency and has resulted in treatment that is pertinent to addiction. This study of 52 women "who love too much" found no such link, although it confirmed that low self-esteem and depression are problems for such women. The authors present alternative approaches to treating such women that deal with deficits in their families of origin and with improving their relationships.
