Abstract

The 6–8-week baby check is part of the NHS newborn and infant physical examination screening programme. The check is an early opportunity to carry out a comprehensive physical examination, pick up abnormalities which require referral, deliver health promotion advice and address parental concerns. This article will focus on some common parental concerns, how to reassure parents, and potential red flags that may be picked up at the check.
