Direct and indirect literature overlap measures for information pools of research teams

Abstract

Taking into account identity and relations of information carriers (journals) in different information pools, direct and indirect literature overlap measures have been suggested. Characteristics of overlapping information pools of research teams (papers published and referenced by the team, papers citing papers of the team and cited papers of the team) are studied. The indirect overlap measures were found to be higher than the direct ones at both subfield and journal hierarchical level.
