Abstract
This paper seeks to identify those children in psychiatry who cannot make use of the standard combination of non-directive play therapy and psychodynamic thought as a method of treatment. It proposes that integrating therapeutic activity into this formula might hold the key to success and seeks to substantiate this claim. The question then arises: is it the occupational therapist or the activity that makes the crucial difference?
