From Sample to Population: Using and Reporting Inferential Statistics

Abstract

This paper is a guide to authors on using and reporting inferential statistics in scientific papers. In particular, it deals with errors often found in manuscripts submitted for publication, some of which may be corrected and some of which are impossible to change because of design problems in the research. Examples are provided to illustrate the points made and to guide the potential researcher through the presentation of statistical information.
