Abstract
As a social studies teacher educator, I conducted action research to inform my practice and contribute to the emerging discussion of preparing teachers for global citizenship education. Building on the literature on global citizenship and teacher education, I developed, taught, and reflected on an elementary social studies methods course that aimed to assist elementary teacher candidates to develop the concepts, approaches, and confidence to become global citizenship educators. Based on analysis of multiple data sources and my reflections, I discuss the possibilities and limitations of a single-course approach to teacher education in the context of globalization.
