Abstract

Robert Fulton focused his attention on the social and emotional consequences of bereavement: the loss of spouse or other pairbond partner. Another kind of relational loss might be considered that can interact with loss of a pairbond partner: loss is of access to one's community as a consequence of a major change in life. Retirement is one such change.
