Abstract
Judicious medication use in older people: pay attention to sex and gender aspects
Polypharmacy is prevalent among older adults and the risk of inappropriate prescribing increases with age. Older adults, particularly women, are at high risk for medication-related problems.
This review article focuses on optimizing medication use in older adults, proposes a practical approach for evaluating and managing the use of medication in daily practice and describes how sex and gender aspects can play a role in appropriate prescribing.
