CHARGE PICK-UP PHENOMENA IN U+Al INTERACTION

Abstract

927 MeV/N U-projectile from LBL BEVALAC irradiated a stack consisting of CR-39(DOP) plastics and Al target at an angle of 30° to study the large fragmentation phenomena and charge pick-up reactions. The last one from the exposed plates has been etched for an hour in 6.25N NaOH solution at 70°C. Etch pit diameters of about 8,352 nuclei detected in the processed plastic have been measured. Attention has been paid to the observed charge pick-up cross-section that seems to be reduced due to the fission of newly formed nuclei after the charge pick-up events.
