STUDY ON ZERO RESISTANCE AT 118 K IN (Bi, Pb)–Sr–Ca–Cu–(O, F) SUPERCONDUCTOR

Abstract

(Bi, Pb)–Sr–Ca–Cu–(O, F) superconductors of transition with onset at 125 K and zero resistance at 118 K have been synthesized successfully with CuF 2 as one of the components. The effects of fluorine on sintering technique and superconductivity have been investigated. The best ratio of doping-F has been experimentally obtained. The contribution of fluorine to kinetic process of high-T c phase growth has been discussed. The results of X-ray powder diffraction show that only two phases exist in this superconductor, a low-T c 85 K phase and a high-T c 110 K phase. No fluoride or other impure phases are found in the system.
