ON THE OCCURENCE OF ROBUST CHAOS IN A SMOOTH SYSTEM

Abstract

We investigate the occurrence of robust chaos in a smooth system. We present a general theorem and a practical procedure for constructing S-unimodal maps that generate robust chaos. This result is contrary to the hypothesis that robust chaos cannot exist in smooth systems.
