Abstract
Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is associated with acute changes requiring emergency responses. In people with life-limiting illnesses, the same urgency is required when evaluating the options that should be discussed with the person and their family. The range of problems more often relate to comorbid illnesses than the life-limiting illness itself, given the risk factor that many people bring to their life-limiting illness. Simultaneously evaluating the person’s clinical condition, managing their symptoms, and discussing options for investigations and definitive treatments typify the challenges of clinical care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
