Abstract

Filariasis is a tropical disease that, despite innumerable geopolitical measures, continues to be rampant in India. Breast filariasis, although uncommon, is not unknown. It can masquerade as breast carcinoma or breast abscess, with consequent delay in diagnosis. Real-time ultrasonography is a noninvasive method that can help with the diagnosis, as the adult worm shows classical rigorous body movements known as the ‘filarial dance’.
