Abstract
Abstract
This chapter addresses how artistic practices throughout adulthood can be a way to express generativity. It explores two broad avenues for generative expressions through artistic practices. Firstly, it analyses the creation of artistic pieces as a means of contributing to the next generations and society, as well as their transcendence as a lasting legacy. Secondly, this chapter examines how mentoring, teaching, and guiding new artists can be understood as generative actions. In addition, it delves into the role and relevance of society and context as a space that can both enable and hinder artistic practices, and, therefore, generative expressions through this type of practice. Finally, throughout this chapter, several examples—considering a wide range of artistic disciplines and level of expertise—are provided as aids to better comprehend the generative potential of a diversity of artistic practices.
