Abstract

AbstractThis final chapter provides an overview of the main themes and conclusions of the book. Five main themes are identified. These include: (1) a robust pluralism about bias, (2) the deep connections between bias and norms, (3) the perspectival character of bias attributions, (4) the objectivity of bias and bias attributions, and (5) a thoroughgoing externalism about bias. Some connections among these themes are noted. The chapter then summarizes 125 claims about bias that are endorsed (and in most cases, argued for) over the course of the book, with references to the specific sections in which those claims are discussed.
