The Thermal Response Investigation of Functionally Graded Material Plates

Abstract

The displacement response of functionally graded material (FGM) plates has been investigated based on the strip element method (SEM) for temperature change. The material properties of the FGM plates vary continuously through the thickness. The temperature is assumed to vary continuously through the thickness. The displacement response is obtained for the FGM plates in the condition of temperature change action and both temperature and external force action. This study extends SEM to the heat response of the FGM plates considering heat effect. It is not only extension and development for the applicability of this method in thermal field but also provides a good theory reference for more applying SEM to the thermal field.
