Abstract

In order to reveal the impact of different D65 illuminance value on observer metamerism of cross-media color reproduction (CMCR) between display and printed samples. An EIZO display and viewing cabinet were placed simultaneously in front of the observers. 19 observers were asked to match 17 test colors for each configuration. Observers adjusted a color displayed on the monitor to match a printed patch inside the viewing cabinet under different light illuminance value, i.e.252lx,850lx and 1900lx respectively. The matched color patches were measured by Monitor- Optimizer in this experiment, observers had similar observation variability in the three configurations. Both sets of results had smaller observer variability and a closer agreement to the CIE standard colorimetric observer and with the increasing of the illuminance of the light, the higher saturation of the matched colors on the monitor. With the accuracy of the 19 observers, the higher the light illuminance the smaller the matching color difference.
