How Innovation will Change the Healthcare Landscape: A Perspective from Future Health Care Leaders (Preprint)
Author:
Abstract
As future health care providers and leaders, we provide a unique perspective on the future direction of health care in the United States. We identified several opportunities for growth in a post-pandemic future, from leveraging technology to restructuring reimbursement. By building efficient and innovative digital ecosystems, that both patient and provider can access, we believe that cost, access, quality, and healthcare worker shortages can be addressed. These ecosystems can serve as decentralized virtual platforms housing data collection, financial and billing information, personalized medicine and resources that address various social determinants of health. Using these systems, we can improve patient health while reducing costs, increasing access and improving efficiency. We must continue to expect health providers to partner with data scientists and developers to build their digital front-doors while encouraging policymakers to think critically about the health policy surrounding these virtual offerings.
