Abstract
A new miniatured quad-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is suggested for operating at 26.5 GHz and 47 GHz 5G millimeter-wave (mm-wave) applications. The antenna of size 11.6 mm × 12 mm × 0.508 mm is printed on Rogers RT/duroid 5880 (tm) dielectric material. The recommended antenna has a slotted ground at the bottom and four U-shaped radiating elements on top of the dielectric material. The antenna elements are excited via microstrip line feed. The first operational band at 26.5 GHz from 25.10 to 27.50 GHz is made possible by U-shaped patches. The second band at 47 GHz, spanning 45.45 to 48.45 GHz, is created by carving square slots into the ground layer. The suggested MIMO design's mutual coupling of < -28 dB (or isolation of > 28 dB) is obtained by rectangular ground plane slots and radiating elements that are placed orthogonally. The developed antenna operates at 26.5 GHz and 47 GHz, with steady radiation properties, a peak gain of 7.5 dBi, and a radiation efficacy of more than 93%. Moreover, antenna provides very low envelope correlation coefficient, low channel capacity losses, and acceptable total active reflection coefficient. The findings manifest that the recommended design is well-suited for 5G mm-wave N257/N258 and N262 band applications.
