Abstract
The current interest in carbon nanotubes is a direct consequence of the synthesis of buckminsterfullerene, C60, in 1985 and its derivatives thereafter. The discovery that carbon could form stable, ordered structures other than graphite and diamond simulated many researchers in the world to search for other allotropes of carbon.
