Abstract
The cause and pathogenesis of this syndrome remain unknown. The recovery of ECHO virus type 7 from the cerebrospinal fluid and stool of a patient with the Guillain-Barré syndrome during its acute stages and the demonstration of a concomitant increase in antibody titer establish that the syndrome and the infection were concurrent. This is apparently the third ECHO virus to be associated with this kind of illness.
