Abstract
The author of the article suggests turning to discursive forms of its representation in search of a cultural code. Language, being the most conservative element of culture, has a mnemonic function. Accordingly, it is a way of traditional conceptualization of the world. Exploring its specific expressions (words, idioms, sayings, legends), the axiomatic structures of understanding, value orientations, aesthetic and ethical norms of the ethnos are revealed.
