Abstract
In the last decade, expectations to applied knowledge and social changes have grown. But what is meant by applying? What will be the significance of applicable knowledge? What becomes important, and what is neglected? The article illustrates these questions with the educational area as an example, and concludes with a discussion of possible methodological consequences.
