Abstract
In this research, kiwi juice was used as an effective biocatalyst in reacting aryl aldehydes, malononitrile, and 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid to synthesize pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines in high yields (85-98%). The distinct aspects of the current method are short reaction time, safe, clean, cheap, readily available, and green properties of the kiwi juice as an effective catalyst.
