Abstract
Biomass samples were converted to charcoal and to liquid and gaseous products using pyrolysis process at different temperatures. The yield of charcoal and the chemical composition of charcoal can be calculated as functions of the carbonization temperature. There have been numerous other mathematical models, which were created based on data from the physical or chemical compositions, proximate or ultimate analysis of the biomass fuels. The charcoal components and higher heating values (HHVs) of biomass fuels were correlated with carbonization temperatures. There were highly significant linear correlation between the carbonization temperature of the biomass fuel and the fixed carbon content and HHV of charcoal. The fixed carbon (FC) and HHV (MJ/kg) of the charcoal from biomass as a linear function of carbonization temperature (T, K) was calculated using the following equations: [Formula: see text][Formula: see text] For which square of the correlation coefficients (r2) were 0.9622 and 0.9967, respectively.
