Abstract

When cells experience proteotoxic stress, which proteins are actually affected and sensed in the first place? Analysis of heat shock factor 1 (Hsf1) activation across proteotoxic conditions and various levels of protein synthesis argue that ongoing protein synthesis underlies Hsf1 activation in proteotoxic stress.
