Agrobacterium tumefaciens
B6, grown in the presence of 5-fluorouracil or 5-fluodeoxyuridine, exhibited a prolonged lag phase. The tumor-inducing ability of bacteria grown in the presence of these compounds was decreased even after exposures as short as 40 min. A positive correlation was found between the growth-inhibitory effects of these compounds and their effects on the tumor-inducing ability of the bacteria.
